Title: Common guidelines for global engineering ethics that take into account cultural differences
Lecturer: Professor Kenichi Natsume, Department of Basic Education, Kanazawa Institute of Technology

Starting with an explanation of the basic understanding for analyzing ethical issues, we will explain the relationship between engineering ethics and globalization, common guidelines for global engineering ethics, and ethical issues that are often faced in global business and their analysis. You explained it very clearly. In particular, according to the trends of each country using Hofstede's six-dimensional model, the cultural values of each country are extremely different, and it was easy to imagine that ethical issues would arise due to this.
Even in Japan, the institutionalization of engineer ethics seems to have progressed from around the 1990s in response to global standards, but even if there was some kind of code of ethics as a common guideline, it would be difficult for engineers to take charge of business or projects overseas. There are a wide variety of ethical issues faced in doing so, and there is no one-size-fits-all solution to what you should do when faced with a dilemma. In such cases, I realized that how to smoothly develop a business while complying with relevant laws and treaties is an extremely difficult problem, even if I were to put it in my own hands. I also believe that today's seminar was very meaningful in the sense that I was able to learn the clues to solving this problem.
