Title: Thoughts as I look back on my XNUMX years as an engineer
Lecturer: Takanori Oka PE member

The presentation left a strong impression on the life of the lecturer, who was in charge of many construction projects both domestically and internationally as a civil engineer. I was involved in the construction management of a concrete floating bridge in Washington state, and the manager of the local general contractor who strongly led the project at that time was a PE, so I aimed to obtain PE qualification while stationed in the United States. Aiming to become an astronaut, he attempted the JAXA selection test and passed the first round, but declined to take up the post of PM for construction work in Mexico. He has been involved in renewable energy with a solar business in the United States and a wind turbine manufacturer in Denmark, and is currently working on developing a large-scale offshore wind power business with foreign capital. All of the content was really exciting. I once again realized that in order to contribute to society as a capable engineer, it is not just about mindlessly racking up the years, but also how important it is to have an attitude toward that goal.
When asked by a participant, ``What's the best thing about becoming a PE?'', the answer was ``Being able to interact with colleagues who have ambition and ability,'' which I took very seriously.
