Title: Introduction to engineering in the materials industry
Lecturer: Ryota Matsumoto PEN member

We talked about the glass industry, which is one of the material industries, and talked about cold parts such as processing, strengthening, and coating.Examples of the sophistication of existing businesses (“deepening knowledge”) include the development of press equipment for automobile glass and the construction of large-scale production lines for the company's overseas factories, and examples of new business creation (“search for knowledge”). He introduced examples of automotive interior displays. We also spoke about the application of Model Based Design to optimize production equipment.Temperature control is extremely important in glass processing in order to keep strain and strength within a specified range, and the strength of colorless and transparent glass can be determined not only by destructive testing but also by non-contact testing using polarized light. I was able to gain access to knowledge unique to industry.
It was also very interesting to hear how his interest in Robocon when he was a student increased and he decided to jump from the mechanical field to the materials industry.I think it gave me an opportunity to think about the future of engineers.
