Continuing from the 7nd Engineer's Salon held on July 5th, based on the content obtained from the study session on the theme of "new energy fields and energy conservation", he explained the technical system under the title of "Explanation of CCUS and the latest trends", and also explained the efforts and trends of countries such as Europe, the United States, China, and Japan.

The technology of encapsulating CO2 underground is called EOR (Enhanced Oil Recovery). It was developed in the United States in the 1970s to increase oil production, and is a relatively old technology. I learned that the potential for underground storage is higher in deep underground layers called deep saline water layers than in depleted gas and oil fields.Since there is no suitable land for underground storage in Japan, I also heard the prospect that a pipeline will be laid to Southeast Asia.

Also, while many countries are contributing political budgets to demonstration experiments and projects, there was an interesting talk that the United States is trying to promote this in the form of tax exemptions.

It is widely known that it is an indispensable technology for achieving net zero in 2050, and I strongly feel that it is a field that we should follow up on information in the future.
