Lecturer: Ryo Moriyama, Chairman of JSPE (Institute for Energy Research)
Lecture title: Carbon cycle through utilization of biomass-Toward a medium- to long-term energy vision
Global Carbon Cycle using Biomass-Toward a mid- to long-term energy vision
Abstract: Response to climate change is an important and urgent issue on a global scale, and in Japan as well, in 2015 and 2016 in the 2030 "Promise Draft" and the 2050 Cabinet Decision "Global Warming Countermeasures Plan". The goal is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions over the long term.
In this lecture, we will focus on the energy megatrends for reducing greenhouse gas emissions over the medium to long term and the carbon cycle, which has become a keyword in recent years, and organize the topics related to climate change that have been taken up by JSPE. The purpose is to discuss the role of engineers in the future.

Participation fee: JSPE member 1,500 yen, JSPE non-member 2,500 yen (Year end partyFor those who participate, from the seminar participation fee500 yen discount) We will issue a 2.0h PDH.

At the Tokyo venue, Chairman Moriyama gave a lecture on the theme of "Carbon Cycle by Utilizing Biomass-Toward a Medium- to Long-Term Energy Vision."
It was a very interesting topic because it was a topic on TV news as well as a COP was held on the content related to global warming countermeasures.

Starting with a natural science explanation of the carbon cycle, he explained about hydrogen utilization, carbon cycle, electricity conversion and energy storage system as a medium- to long-term energy vision, and explained by utilizing biomass.
Regarding biomass, he introduced examples of domestic and overseas utilization (biomass boiler, methane fermenter, fuel plant).

The engineer's responsibility for social welfare in response to global warming gave me an opportunity to think about what PE can do.
