NSPE Code of Ethics Revised for the first time in 11 years

At the Las Vegas General Assembly in July 2018, JSPE released a Japanese translation, and the NSPE Code of Ethics, which is often referred to in domestic engineer ethics textbooks, was revised for the first time in 7 years since 2007. I did.The amendment will be a small and formal one that only moves Section III.11.e, which emphasizes the need for continuous learning, to Section III.9.e.

[Consideration as JSPE]

This amendment is formal, but since III.2 is about public safety, health and well-being, and III.9 is about customer credibility, Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and self-improvement of engineers It can be seen as reflecting the fact that it is more indispensable than ever in fulfilling our social mission of improving public safety, health and well-being.

The revised Code of Ethics has already been reflected on NSPE's Ethics site and JSPE's research and research project / technical ethics site, so please check it once. (For reference, the Japanese-English translation of the item is shown below.)

The NSPE Ethics site also includes a new three-page educational material called the "Ethics Study Guide" to help beginners understand the Code of Ethics.
