This time, Mr. Mukai, the former president of MHI Nuclear Engineering Co., Ltd., provided a topic under the title of "Engineer Ethics and Bushido Spirit" and we all had a discussion.
He took the spirit of Bushido as a traditional Japanese ethical view and explained the common points (common keywords) with the NSPE Code of Ethics.A samurai who tried hard to protect the land he had cultivated in the Kamakura period or the land given to him by his lord appeared, and after that, he moved to a modern society through a feudal society. This social transition is very different from China and South Korea, which moved from a feudal society to a modern society at once without going through a feudal society.Land realism, which is based on feudalism and land ownership, which is a decentralized society, built up Japanese Bushido and became the driving force for achieving the Meiji Restoration. From such changes in the historical social structure, it was an interesting story that unraveled the history of Japan in a very easy-to-understand manner from the perspective of society, ethics, and culture.
I think that this topic was provided with many hints for future guidelines for us who own or aim for PE even though we are Japanese.
After providing the topic, we had a deep discussion centered on the participants' self-introduction with beer and wine in one hand.
This is the second time for an engineer's salon to use the external conference room, but this time too, the capacity was full, and we are very grateful to those who participated, and we are sorry for those who could not participate.
If you would like us to discuss the same topic at the seminar, please contact the Education Subcommittee.
In addition, the JSPE Education Subcommittee is looking for operational support members to continue the Engineers Salon, so we ask for your cooperation.
