The 332nd Kanto Technology CPD Seminar

28 participants (25 PE members, 3 non-members)

Professor Ryoko Oda of Chiba Institute of Technology was invited as a lecturer to give a lecture on the theme of "Familiar and complicated urban weather conditions approaching by observation".He introduced the influential factors, measuring instruments, and observation methods for the heat index, which has become more popular in the world in recent years, and local heavy rains that can lead to major disasters.I think that few of the participants specialized in meteorology, but many questions were asked after the lecture. The content was related to various fields such as disaster prevention, safety management, and observation technology, so I think some of you may have found hints for your own work.We would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Oda for giving a very meaningful lecture while he was busy.

Theme: Familiar and complex urban weather conditions approaching by observation

Lecturer: Professor Ryoko Oda, Department of Urban Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Creative Engineering, Chiba Institute of Technology

Abstract: Urban air environmental problems such as the heat island problem and localized heavy rains are becoming apparent in urban areas. In order to predict and elucidate these, it is important to understand the fluctuation tendency of various meteorological factors from the ground surface to several kilometers above the ground.Introducing direct and indirect observation examples that have been working to clarify the actual situation of complex urban atmospheric environment, such as thermal environment survey in the block and atmospheric turbulence survey using ground remote sensing such as radar and rider. ..
