Lecture title: Stepwise refinement in chemical process development-Process development and feasibility study-
English title: Progressive Elaboration on Development of Chemical Processes ~ Process Development and Feasibility Study ~

Lecture summary:
Project characteristics include Temporary, Unique, and Progressive Elaboration. In this course, we will focus on Progressive Elaboration and explain the R & D Project, whose characteristics are strongly manifested, as an example. As an example of research and development including the technical part, the process development for producing methane from carbon dioxide using surplus electric power will be explained as an example. It also describes a feasibility study that determines whether to proceed with research and development in the field of chemistry.

Onikin CPD Seminar was held on Saturday, January 1th.Lecturer Sakai PE gave a lecture on the step-by-step refinement of PMBOK Guide in light of the development of chemical processes.
As an example of a chemical process, he explained how to develop a metanation process that produces methane from carbon dioxide and hydrogen as raw materials, and how to process and industrialize it from the viewpoint of chemical reaction and thermodynamics.
In a chemical process development project, FS (Feasibility Study) is conducted at each stage of research → development → commercialization → commercialization, and it is decided whether to proceed to the next stage, and as a method, DCF (Discount) Cash Flow) You introduced the calculation.

In the group discussion, we discussed the risks raised in the new equipment construction of new chemical products that were decided to be invested by FS, introduced the following contents, and summarized that FS is a future forecast and may not be detailed. ..
(XNUMX) Review of the equipment plan itself due to soaring raw material prices
(XNUMX) The expected performance cannot be obtained for commercially produced products.
(XNUMX) Changes in market demand due to oversupply due to the entry of major competitors
