On Saturday, June 6, we visited the Urawa Hydrogen Station with the kindness of Tokyo Gas.A total of 23 participants, 15 males and 4 females, were highly motivated to meet at Minami-Yono Station 19 minutes before the meeting time.
At the site, Tokyo Gas Manager Ishikura gave a polite explanation in the occasional heavy rain.At Urawa Hydrogen Station, pure water is added to city gas to produce hydrogen.It is assumed that the station that accompanies manufacturing will be installed next to the replenishment equipment for natural gas vehicles, and Urawa is said to be the largest place where the space for hydrogen-related equipment can be used. It is necessary to use SUS700 to prevent hydrogen embrittlement under high pressure of 316 atm, and if it is welded, the strength will be reduced, so the equipment will be costly, such as using 1000 joints, which will make it more viable. He said that there are still many issues.
Currently, about 2400 fuel cell vehicles are in operation, and there are about 100 hydrogen stations nationwide.The government has set a goal of increasing these to 2020 units and 4 stations by 1600, but it seems that it will not be easy to achieve.The main unit price is still over 700 million yen, which is still expensive, but if you make the best use of subsidies from the national and local governments and the programs of automobile manufacturers, it seems that some local governments can use it for 100 years at the 4 million yen level, so environmental awareness Higher ones may be worth considering.When the tank is full, about 5 kg of hydrogen will be replenished in about 3 minutes. It is said that it can run about 1 km with 500 kg of hydrogen, which is comparable to a gasoline car.
After the tour, we talked about the future of fuel cell vehicles at a nearby udon restaurant while having a drink without eating udon.On the way back to the station, the rain legs became stronger, and it was difficult for everyone to get their feet wet with the puddle blocking the road, but it was a very meaningful event.We would like to express our deep gratitude to Tokyo Gas and everyone involved.
