This time, Mr. Daisuke Uemura, a former chairman of JSPE and the current auditor, provided a topic under the title of "Engineering Ethics Learned from Mistakes" and discussed with everyone.First, let's go back to the basics, review "What is engineer ethics", "Engineer's code of conduct", etc., and then discuss good cases of engineer ethics (design change of City Corp Building), failure cases (challenge accident), etc. Looking back, we compared and evaluated where the difference between the two was.
After that, he explained an example of how to deal with a design change during construction in response to a design error at the entrance of a distribution warehouse, which he himself had designed and supervised on the ordering side. After the construction started, the in-house sales department pointed out the lack of height at the entrance, reported the change to the desired design to the boss and related departments inside and outside the company, and took immediate action to remodel it without taking care. I was able to finish the construction. It happened because I didn't know the revision of the traffic-related laws and regulations, but it was a successful case by responding in good faith with a straightforward approach.
At the end, as the basis of engineer ethics, always be honest and honest, do not forget social responsibility, do not do tricks, failure is the cause of success.
After providing the topic, this time there was a request from the instructor, and in addition to beer, we had a discussion with wine in one hand and it was a lot of excitement.
