Technical facility tour (J-Power Isogo Thermal Power Station) Report

On the afternoon of Saturday, May 5, which was blessed with fine weather, we visited the coal-fired power plant of Electric Power Development Co., Ltd. in Isogo. There was a cancellation of one person the day before, and 27 people gathered at Isogo Station before 1:14 pm.There is a large Toshiba factory in front of the station, and there are also energy companies Tokyo Gas and TEPCO on the way to J-Power, which gives a view of the energy industry's concentration area. When I entered the main gate of the Isogo Thermal Power Station, I was welcomed by the people who went to work and responded to the visitors even though it was Saturday, and immediately received an explanation of the power station in the presentation room.

Isogo Thermal Power is a state-of-the-art coal-fired thermal power plant with approximately twice the output, which was constructed by replacing it on the same site of the former Units 42 and 44 that started operation in 1 and 2.With an output of 2 MW each, the new No. 2 unit started operation in 60 and the new No. 1 unit started operation in 14.We are also focusing on environmental measures and complying with the strictest environmental requirements of Yokohama City in Japan. In fact, Unit 2 was in operation, but no smoke or steam was visible from the chimney. In addition, the landscape was devised and the chimney was placed in an inconspicuous position from Sankeien. After receiving a brief explanation and deepening the understanding with the exhibited model, we visited the first unit in operation. We visited the boiler, turbine, piping, chimney, etc., but because the height of the boiler is as high as 21m, unlike the usual factory tour, we mainly moved vertically by elevator rather than horizontally.

After the tour, I decided to give up the bus with only two buses per hour and return by taxi in order to secure the question time, but since the questions came up one after another, I ended up leaving the power plant by bus 30 minutes later. It will come out. After the tour, we held a social gathering in Saizeriya in front of Isogo Station.Again, I got a lot of beer and wine in my hand.

The day was a very fulfilling day.Seeing is believing, so we ask that many people participate in the tour, which is held about once a year.
